a little more summer fun

We took the kids to Thanksgiving point a few weeks ago for some pictures. In August they do $2 tuesdays, for several of their activities, our plan was to go as a family to the dinosaur museum during Geoff's lunch break, and I would take the kids to the gardens after he left. We got to the museum only to find a line wrapping around the entire building, so we decided not to do that. We grabbed some lunch at the deli and took Emma through the atrium first. After lunch Geoff left for work and I took the kids to the Gardens. They are so beautiful, they have like 50 acres of gardens, with different themes. Emma had a blast running around and looking at the flowers. They also have a kids area with lots of fun things for them to do, unfortunately we did not have very much time to spend there, I wish we would have gone there first, but we'll remember it for next time.
Emma and Geoff in the atrium, if you can't tell, she is Daddy's little girl.

This is at the children's part of the Garden's she got soaked, I had to just take her skirt off.

This is Emma and her friend Addy, they love to play together

I decided since we were here we needed to have a little photo shoot of our own, since I haven't been able to get the kids in for photo's recently.

There are a lot of photo's here, but I really narrowed it down, I ended up taking 200 pictures.

These 2 love to play together, Emma takes such good care of James, and James really looks up to Emma. They get into a lot of trouble together, but I love that they play so well.

Emma is attempting to roll down the hill, I think it's kind of cute.

Scera Shell Summer

This is at Lone Star

Geoff and I have had a great time this summer at the Scera Shell. Our office became sponsors of the Shell and in return we have had tickets to everything. Not only do we get to go to the concerts but we get to go to a pre-show dinner which includes meeting the performers. We have been to Jim Brickman (an amazing pianist), Colin Raye, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (Geoff's favorite concert), and Lonestar. Here are a few pictures of the summer. We've really enjoyed doing this, and look forward to the fall season as well.

Here are our pictures with Jim Brickman and Colin Raye, I have not gotten the pictures from the other concerts yet, but when I do I will get them posted.

I really enjoyed the Colin Raye concert, he is a great performer, and he treats his fans so great. Before we took the picture he played with James for a minute.

We are going to the Take 6 concert on Monday, they are an acapella group and have won 10 grammy's. It should be a good concert. They end the summer season, and then Scera will start an indoor seaon for the fall, I am looking forward to that.

Swimming time

We took the kids to the new pool in Lindon a few weeks ago, they had so much fun. This was the first time James went swimming, we weren't really sure if he would like it since he has always hated bath time, we wish we would have taken him earlier, because he loved it, and now he loves bathtime.
They had so much fun playing with these little fountains.

Emma did get a little nervous about the water after Geoff took her down the waterslide, she really didn't like that. She doesn't like people to splash her in the face (wonder where she got that from), but after awhile she warmed up to the water again and was having fun in no time. She will tell you that she doesn't want to go down the water slide again.

Steel Days and the 24th of July

For those of you that aren't familiar with Utah, every summer just about every city in Utah has it's own celebration days, Steel Days is for American Fork, where I grew up. They have a parade, we did not go to that one this year, but they also have a carnival. Emma loves the carnival and all the rides. Here she is on the little caterpillar roller coaster...she liked it before it started, but once it started moving she was not happy about it. I think she was probably just a little too small for it still, she probably needed somebody sitting next to her because it jerked her around. I tried to do it with her, but they wouldn't let me.
This is at the Lund family party. We had a big lunch and played games. When that was all over we all went back to our house and made smores in the fire pit. My uncle made homemade ice cream with my grandpa's old ice cream maker, we used to have it all the time when I was little, he made the same recipe my grandpa always made, which was the best. Hopefully the ice cream is something we will do every year.
This is Emma at the carnival again...she just loves to drive
Obviously this picture was taken before the ride started moving.
James was pretty tired at the carnival, my Dad found a bench and sat down with him so he would fall asleep.
James at the family party...he was having a good time
This is Emma and some of my cousins kids eating homemade ice cream at the party...they all really liked it.
after all the food we did fireworks, Emma loves watching the fireworks

James wasn't so sure about the fireworks at first.

as you can tell Emma really enjoyed her smores and ice cream at the party.
This was sunday dinner the next day...James' first time with mashed potatoes, he really really like them.

Emma was very excited to have corn on the cob.
Geoff and I bought a few fireworks for us to do with the kids for Sunday night.
Emma liked doing sparklers, but she was still a little bit nervous about getting burned.

He likes them now!
Emma decided she was done, so Geoff and James did some sparklers.
